He takes the initiative in the leaming process and strives to learn and comprehend coneepis at the advanced level as he intends to become a physician or physician's Joshua's knowledge base and comprehension has grown tremendously sinee he enrolled in my college-level medical occupations class in August 2014. He is also very involved in on- and off-campus activities, including Link Crew, Young Life, MHS Cross Country, and Track. Childs Ave Merced, CA 95341 Cougar Country So Mercy Medical Center, secs wsstcoar ee Omg Cntr Date; March 14,2015 TO: To Whom It May Concem Re: Joshua Lawrence From: Jan Sorge, Volunteer Advisor for High School Student Volunteers ‘At Mercy Medical Center, Merced Joshua Lawrence attended Orientation on January 31, 2012 and is faithfully serving as a volunteer with a total of $50 hours as of February 28, 2015, He is a dedicated worker, and follows the responsibilities required of a Student Volunteer by always wearing the correct uniform, reporting on time, escorting Visitors when needed, delivering items for the different departments, greeting visitors and showing & caring and compassionate attitude, (ur high schoo! students work a four hour shift every week ~ either an evening from 4-8 p.m. or one of ‘the three shifts on Saturday or Sunday from 8 a.m. ~ noon, noon ~ 4 pam. and 4-8 p.m. They do discharges so have training on how to use the wheelchair to take patients out to their car with the family Waiting. They practice their Customer Service skills introducing themselves tothe patient and to the family and reminding them to get all their belongings from their hospital room, and thanking them for {coming to Mercy and telling them to stay well or enjoy their new family or whatever is appropriate for @ discharged patient. ‘We have monthly Student Volunteer meetings where the students make tray favors for the patients for the holidays to cheer them up and life skis forthe students. Life sklls such as how to write a resume, Practice an interview, how to develop a budget, what it takes to live on your own, the responsibilities and ‘ost, the cost and expense of owning a car, all things that are valuable inthe growing responsibilities of ‘moving out on your own, ‘Joshua has been a very dependable, conscientious worker and I would highly recommend him for anything he would apply for.
