Abstract:
Urmia Lake is the greatest and supersaline permanent lake in Iran which climate changes during early 2
decades, prolonged drought and excessive reduction of water level, result in many environmental problems.
Also due to increasing region temperature and evaporation, plants and animals life of Urmia Lake have been
threaten. Due to decreasing volume of incoming water to lake and increasing of salt concentration in lake
over the past decades, long salty beaches have been created. On the other hand, the problem of supplying
water needed by plants and animals, respectively, results in drying flora and losing fauna. In addition,
increased salinity in Urmia lake provided unfavorable conditions for Artemia, which eliminate great amounts
of this valuable microorganism and finally have threated the lives of remained Artemias.
