Assistive Technology Response
As society becomes more advanced, educators have worked to make assistive technology
more progressive and more easily accessible. There are a range of new accommodations for
students in the classroom associated with technology, mobility, hearing, sight, and much more.
These options exist to create a more equitable learning environment for all students and to
provide support for children with disabilities. These devices not only provides inclusion and
opportunity for students, but also enables teachers to better accommodate for these students and
makes it easier for teachers to maintain a fair classroom. I think it is very important for preservice teachers to learn about different types and methods of assistive technology because it is
in the best interest of all parties involved and makes equitable learning an easier goal to
accomplish.
