Rationale

The written task for The Taming of the Shrew takes the form of an interview. The
theme of the play revolves around mysoginism, and the audiences take on such
plays have evolved over time. With that account, an interview with a director of
the play in present times would serve well to challenge modern feminist criticism.
This written task aims to explore part 3 of the course: texts and contexts.
The context of interpretation, and the various scopes of literary viewpoints
amazes me. Modern feminists often criticize Shakespeares The Taming of the
Shrew as being misogynistic, however, I view that it was not meant to be political,
but rather personal. Even if it is to be argued as being political, this written task
aims to reject the criticisms that this play is entirely misogynistic, but is indeed
supporting equality between both sexes. Arguments against the feminist claims
