3) The animal interactions involved in our garden are a type of symbiosis called mutualism. In all
five of our plants, bees are attracted. The bees spread the plants pollen and the bees receive
the nectar. In Manzanita, songbirds are attracted. The birds receive food and the plants seeds
are spread by the birds.
4) Our soil must be amended since it is very rocky and dry. Therefore, we will use sheet
mulching to amend the soil. This means laying cardboard over our plot, wetting the cardboard,
and then placing wood chips on top.
