STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION PALOLO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, ‘2106 10TH AVENUE HONOLULU, HAWAI 96816-2000, Jacda Kom began her student teaching practicum with me at Palolo School from January 9, 2015 to May 8, 2015. Our school is a K-5 environment comprised of a diverse student Population that includes a large number of immigrant children and free and reduced school lunch participants. Jaeda spent 17 weeks observing, assisting, and teaching in a unique two-classtoom, Srosinciee team, and full inclusion setting that consisted of 53 students with differing abilities and needs. Jaeda assisted in team-teaching situations as well as routine duties. She taught all ‘subject areas and with guidance was the lead teacher (solo) for five weeks. During her lead teaching, weeks, Jaeda was responsible for teaching our math intervention group and was assigned a small group rotation station for our English Language Arts instruction. She performed all of her teaching duties in a responsible and enthusiastic manner. Her willingness to take suggestions, modify lessons, and experiment with new strategies demonstrated her motivation and reflection about teaching and learning. Jaeda possesses a positive and enthusiastic personality. She developed an excellent rapport with the students and consistently showed a genuine compassion for them and their development. Her ability to manage daily routines and classroom discipline provided a safe environment for all to learn. Jaeda has the potential to become an effective teacher. I feel she would benefit from being a part of a mentoring program as a new teacher. She displayed a willingness to learn and showed a genuine concern for students. In a supportive environment, Jaeda will be able to further refine her abilities and grow as a teacher. With her determined attitude and sincere desire to be a part of the teaching profession, she would be an asset as a teacher in any elementary school. Cy Janice Lock
