Evaluation Criteria for Homework Assignment:

The entire assignment is to be out of ten points, however with the bonuses, students have the
chance to earn thirteen points in total.

The first segment is one point per question, all or nothing answers.
Answer 1: Two quarter notes
Answer 2: Two dotted quarter notes, one dotted half note
Answer 3: One half note, one quarter note
Answer Bonus: One dotted quarter, three eighth notes

The second section is two points per question. If a student labels over 50% of an excerpt
correctly, they earn one point.
Answer 1: one-two-one-trip-let-two
Answer 2: one-let-two-trip-let-three-let-four
Answer Bonus: one-trip-let-two-trip-let-one-and-two-and-three-and

The third question is open ended and could earn up to three points, however in order for
students to earn all three points, they had to mention the eighth note subdivisions. So, for point
distribution:
+0- No effort was made to answer the question.
+1- Effort was made to answer the question, but no points were made correctly.
+2- The student understood the similarity between simple and compound meter, but did
not reach the conclusion that the eighth note pulse is the primary difference.
+3- The student showed full understanding of the concept, pointing out the similarities in
beat pattern between 6/8 and 2/4, the fact that in 6/8, the larger beats are dotted in comparison
to in 2/4, AND that in 6/8, there are three eighth note subdivisions per beat rather than two.
