RP Intellectual Games president and captain, Francis Khew, did not go
home empty handed after competing in 3 different Chinese Chess
competitions namely Zhong Xiang Cup on 16 th November, Tu Long Cup
from 3rd to 19th December, and NTU Blitz Opens on 24th January.

Francis won the 3rd placing in this competition

The Tu Long Cup is a competition open to all players graded or ungraded.

It is one of the biggest competitions in Singapores Chinese Chess scene
held annually. The top 6 in the competition would be awarded a grade A
and top 12 would be awarded a grade B.

Three members from RP Intellectual Games participated in the Tu Long

Cup and Francis Khew got into the top 12 where he was promoted to a B
division player.
Francis said in an assuring tone, I believe that I will do well in the
coming nationals.
The NTU Blitz Opens held in NIE this year had about 90 participants and
RP Intellectual Games sent a total of 6 participants.

Diagonally to Francis is Tay Kian Siang from SOI (DSM). He put up a good fight but
unfortunately did not manage to be in the top 5 tertiary placing.

Wu Jia Wei, a year 2 student from SAS, joined RP Intellectual Games

recently and this was her first time representing RP in a competition. Jia
Wei won the 4th placing in the female category. Wu Jia Wei was very

happy with her performance as she has not trained for chess competitions
since 10 years ago.
The players in RP Intellectual Games had gained much experience due to
the constant exposure and they would like to thank RP for giving them
such an opportunity to do so.
