Dear ALDI Managers,

As you may know, the Alzheimers Association is the world leader in Alzheimers research and
support. Our organization is notably dedicated to finding preventions, developing treatments and
actively funding the search for a cure for Alzheimers disease. What you may not know is that as
many as 5.4 million Americans are currently suffering from Alzheimers and the numbers are
continuing to grow.
Its up to those of us that are able to take action against this devastating disease. The Alzheimers
Association East Central Iowa Chapter has organized The 2014 Walk to End Alzheimers to raise
money and spread awareness about the disease.
This years Walk to End Alzheimers will be held on Saturday September 27, 2014. The event is
expected to attract 700 participants and raise an estimated $136,000 for Alzheimers care, support,
research and advocacy. Detailed event information can be found at www.alz.org.
Our planning committee works hard to offer a special experience for the participants who raise
funds to support our cause. We would like to provide a healthy snack that nourishes and energizes
our participants of all ages to complete their walk goals and to allow them the full experience of
participating in an event of this magnitude. On behalf of the 2014 Walk Planning Committee and
the Alzheimers Association East Central Iowa Chapter, we ask you to donate 250 apples and
250 bananas to be given to our dedicated walkers.
Proceeds raised through Walk to End Alzheimers are used to support our mission to eliminate
Alzheimers disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and
support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
