Glamis History
Glamis Castle is owned by the Strathmore & Kinghorne
family.
It is known as one of the most haunted castles in Britain.
It is said to be cursed because Sir John Lyon removed an
ancestral chalice from where it was supposed to reside
forever.

Legends about Glamis Castle


Legends and myths have grown around the castle, King
Malcolm II was said to have been murdered here in the 11th
century.
Lady Janet Douglas, widow of Lord Glamis, was burned at
the stake as a witch in 1540 by James V.
There is said to be a secret room where a nobleman played
cards with the devil himself.

Ghosts of Glamis Castle


There are many reported ghosts that haunt Glamis Castle, but
these are just the ones that have been reported most often.
The woman without a tongue- The most reported ghost, seen wandering the
grounds pointing to her badly wounded face.
The grey lady- Believed to be the ghost of Lady Glamis, who was burned at the
stake for being a supposed witch.
The young servant boy- the ghost of a servant boy, always seen sitting on the
stone seat by the door of the Queens room.
Ghost of Earl Beardie- Ghost of Alexander Lindsay, 4th earl of crawford, who was
supposedly a cruel and twisted man who drank heavily.
