Desire For Materials Writing Prompt
Buddha says that desire for materials in life is the reason behind suffering for
most people. This philosophy has been stated in various ways. Although it is described
differently in certain religions, it states the same concept. In other words, desire is greed,
and greed tends to be the cause of many evil things in the world. If one desires
something, then one will always desire more. Desire is a cycle of repetitive thirst that can
never be truly quenched. An example of desire in my life is when I play a videogame, I
beat one thing and head on to the next thing because I am never satisfied with what I
previously accomplished. This makes me very anxious and annoyed, because I am never
happy or feel fulfilled. Suffering is an outcome of desire, and the suffering just like desire
is never ending. Focus less on desires in life to achieve personal happiness.
1. I received a C2. I am including this in my portfolio to show how I write about controversial
philosophy of desire/greed.
Often desire causes this vicious cycle of repetitive thirst that can never be truly
quenched. That is an example of my excellent use of metaphors. I am also
including this to show that I can revise my works and take away redundant
phrases and concepts.
