During my internship | have worked with students individually and in classroom settings to help
improve academic success. During the winter quarter | helped three individual students get
back on track by working with them on organization. Alll three students qualified for free and
reduced lunch and were eligible for school materials from the district. | sat down with each
student and we went through every binder, notebook and folder they had, replacing any
damaged materials with new versions. We sorted between old and current work and then
discussed different possible organizational systems they could use. Each student managed to
raise at least one grade because they all found missing assignments or notes that could be
turned in for credit. In addition to working with individual students, | spent several days
observing and working with students in Academic Seminar, a support class, and a beginning
ELL class. During these periods | worked with the students that needed the most one-on-one
attention. These experiences were incredibly valuable and helped me expand my professional
knowledge of academic intervention.
