Applying our high standards of excellence and insight to this technology has resulted in exceptionally accurate and effective anechoic chambers. With over 70 years of ferrite technology expertise, and over 700 installations successfully completed, we have what it takes to design and validate our anechaie chamber concepts and scale model ing technology with actual documented performance records. Our top performing chambers use hybrid absorbers of both ferrite tile and unique polystyrene, closed-cell IP materials, which together provide performance characteristics necessary for testing EMVEMS against the siriet FOC and EC standards for radiated emissions and immunity This polystyrene IP material formulation results in absorbers that providl: precise control of electromagnetic properties, humidity resistance, greater longevity, lower maintenance costs, tighter tolerance readings, absorber materials responsive up to the millimeter wave range and resistance to deterioration from chemical contact. Fact Is, our technology is so on-target that we've been called upon to develop anechoic chambers for quality-driven names Tike Sony, IBM, 3M, Hewlett Packard, and even UL [Iaftaha ta alae Coco Coo Whatever your industry, or your requirements, TDK has the products and the know-haw to be Your Total EMC Solution. ANECHOIC CHAMBER SOLUTIONS ——S“es— Emi The Development of EMC Anechoic Chambers The proliferation of complex, high-speed electronic systems and equipment has resulted in an increase in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC*) requirements. As a result, many regulations are being established to define the maximum acceptable levels of noise which can be radiated from these systems, and the levels of inter ference that a system can tolerate. Various organizations worldwide are involved in establishing these regulations, including the FCC (U.S), VCCI Japan), VDE (Germany), CENELEC (Europe), and CISPR and the IEC (international). The “bottom line” of this activity is that firms designing and building electronic systems must both ensure that their products, conform with these regulations and that they are electromagnetically compatible, To avoid the many problems associated with outdoor testing, indoor anechoic chambers have been developed. Conventional EMC anechoie chambers, however, have some limitations. Because the walls of the chamber must be lined with radio, frequency-absorbing. material, the amount of space available for actual testing becomes limited. Therefore, the test room size must be extremely large, resulting in high construction costs. Another problem is that after several years of use, conventional absorbing material, made from polyurethane foam, deteriorates, becomes weak, deforms, and sometimes droops or separates from the walls. Costly replacement is then necessary. TDK EMC anechoic chambers have solved the problems associated with both outdoor and conventional indoor measurement facilities. Our chambers employ our own high-performance radio wave-absorbing materials, carefully selected to match the test requirements As part of the total absorbing structure, these materials achieve effective absorption in only one-half to one-third the thickness required by conventional materials, In addition, our absorbing materials use highly durable construction to ensure long operational life. TDK EMC anechoic chambers are complete turn-key systems which can be put into use immediately. Their performance has been thoroughly verified to correspond well with the values obtained for the very best open site testing facilities, * EMC covers both electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) For Antenna Evaluation/EM 10-Meter/EMS Testing (Multi-Purpose) For Microwave Evaluation, Amtenna Testing, etc For VE, UHF and SHF Evaluation and Testing AMAAALALAALALAAAA ddA VARIOUS APPLICATIONS FOR ANECHOIC CHAMBERS TDK ANECHOIC CHAMBERS ARE DESIGNED TO MEET YOUR SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS. Perhaps EMS testing is the only require ment, or perhaps pre-compliance scanning of the EMI signature of the equipment under test is all that is needed on a regular basis. In this case, a TDK compact anechoic chamber is the ideal test site. With dimensions of approximately ‘6m x 3m x 2.8m, this chamber can be accommoda industrial buildings. This means that the EMC test si located in a QC. laboratory, an engineering department or at a production line. TDK resistive absorbers are all of closed-cell ‘construction, ether in expanded polystyrene or polyethylene foam, TDK absorbers are made by a controlled molding process thus avoiding the uneven resistive material distribution problems that are frequently observed in competitor materials made by the impregnation of open-cell polyurethane foam. ‘TDK materials are lightweight, yet rigid, They will not perceptibly droop oF change their physical and electrical characteristics with time, or as a result of chamber humidity and temperature changes. ‘TDK materials are all fre-esistant, as required by international chamber safety specifications. In the event that these materials are exposed to 2 fire condition, the products of combustion are much safer than those of competitive polyurethane materials, TDK materials are exceptionally clean after installation, The closed-cell design prevents any ‘out-gassing or shedding of paticles during the operation of the chamber. Asa result, they are particularly well suited for applications requiring testing in “clean room” conditions.
