The National Science Centre was formally opened on 29 November 1996 by our former Prime Minister
Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. The objective of establishing the centre was to promote awareness and
understanding of science and technology among Malaysians.

specially designed for lower and upper secondary school students. The activities provided are aimed
at supplementing the curriculum of secondary schools. They are carried out in a laboratory that can
cater for 30 students.
‘Among the other attractions at the centre are the Science Educational Park, the Underwater
Walkthrough Aquarium as well as the Inventor's Comer for budding minds. It is hoped that the
centre's exhibits will help nurture a lifelong interest in sciences for all ages.
‘The centre is located in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, and is open from Monday to Friday from
9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The admission fees are RM6.00 for adults and RM3.00 for children.
