The Honorable Gina McCarthy

Administrator
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
1200 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20460

Dear Administrator McCarthy:

I am a strong supporter of the Environmental Protection Agency and of President Obama. I am
writing to urge the EPA to reconsider its support for biodiesel in the 2014 Renewable Fuel
Standard (RFS) proposed rule.
Iowa is both the state that launched the President to the White House, and has an incredibly
successful renewable fuel industry. Many of our family members and neighbors not only work
in the industry, but voted for President Obama. Since he first began campaigning in Iowa, he
has lauded the need for renewable fuels, and the need to lower our dependence on foreign oil.
The biodiesel industry is currently in a position to help us realize that goal. They are currently
able to produce more than the current RFS limit. If the limit was raised to 1.7 billion gallons, the
industry would be able to meet that demand.
Renewable fuels will continue to stimulate the heartland's economy and help the climate. We
cannot give into big oil and shy away from supporting them. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Monica McCarthy
