AP Psychology Essay Questions,

Taking the National Exam, and Getting
College Credit
When you take the Advanced Placement Psychology Exam in May, two-thirds
of your final grade/score will come from one hundred multiple-choice
questions. The other third of your final grade/score will come from two
mandatory essay questions. Students have been given forty-five minutes
some years and fifty minutes other years to answer both questions. I will
summarize the basic themes/content of the past essay questions that have
come from part 1 (prologue and chapters 1 through 9 of Myerss Psychology
and lessons 15) and part 2 (chapters 1018 of Myers's Psychology and
lessons 14). I will also explain more about the writing and grading of the
essay questions. Then I will give you opportunity to take a self-graded
practice exam consisting of one hundred multiple-choice questions. There
will also be a graded Speedback assignment at the end of the lesson.
The first Advanced Placement Psychology Exam was administered in May
1992. That year, and every year since then, there were two essay questions.
Generally, there has been one question associated with the experimental
method and one question associated with the treatment of psychological
disorders. Below is listed terms that have been used in the questions and the
chapters in Myers's Psychology, 7th Edition, associated with these terms
(../Media/PDF/keyterms.pdf).
