It provides a platform for creating, using, and sharing information among and across the members of E-Communities. ECKO provides features for storing and managing information from various sources, and provides to the users in an easy-to-use and understand format. This information can then used to build knowledge repositories across various domains and would help in making useful inferences. ECKO requires the following Open source software to be installed and configured in your system, (1) Apache web server 1.3 orabove (2) PHP Interpreter4.3 orabove, configured as a module in Apache web server (3) MySQL Database Server 4.1 orabove with UTF 8 format enabled. All the above softwares and ECKO are capable of running in both Linux and Windows environments. This ‘Readme’ document comes with the Windows package of the easy-to- use installer the ‘Setup.exe’ file with the ECKO icon overit. This windows installer will give you the option to either install (A) ECKO with all requisite software - Apache, PHP, and MySQL (or) (B) Only the ECKO software. Choose (A), if you do not have ANY of the softwares. All of them - Web server (Apache), Web Programming language Interpreter (PHP) and a Database server (MySQL) will be installed. So, you will be able to run ECKO and start your E-community in less than a minute. 33Choose (B), and you need to take care of the installation and configuration of Apache, PHP and MySQL.
