Question For Chapter 13: Barangay Luningning


1. Based on what you have read, what are the dimensions of development that
are lacking on Barangay Luningning?
Health an alarming number of residents were malnourished and the other residents
suffer from various illnesses, namely amoebiasis, pneumonia, perennial tuberculosis,
etc. Thus, Barangay Luningning lack in nutrition and health services.
Cleanliness- as seen in the opening paragraph of chapter 13, the barangay was
described to be unclean according to the statement Foul smell coming from clogged
drainage, spaghetti-like electrical wirings serves as evident threat to its people.
Entrepreneurship/livelihood Program majority of Barangay Luningnings working
population are seasonal or contractual workers which means that they only gain little and
seasonal income to support their family.
Drug-Free Community- as seen in the opening paragraph of chapter 13, the barangay
had some crimes and drug-related violence according to the statement According to
informal interviews also, a number of petty crimes and drug-related violence involved by
some misguided youths were recorded during the past.
Security- the big problems that Barangay Luningning experience make the residents
lives hard. Some succumb to doing bad things to get their families needs/ personal
needs.

Question For Chapter 14: Project Development


Choose a Community. Apply the Project Development Cycle
Chosen community: Tondo, Manila
Goal: Livelihood Program (Educate residents on how to start a small business to help them
make money)
Steps:

Think of businesses that are applicable to the community and its needs.
Ask private sectors to help the program become successful and effective.
Share business knowledge by conducting a seminar.
Demonstrate to the residents how to build a business.

Objective:
Give the residents knowledge and plans on how to create a business that will help them
acquire the adequate (or better yet abundant) income they need to support their families.
