YSPILANTI, Mich.Chippewas lose in Yspilanti. The team was defeated by Eastern
Michigan today 2-0.
CMU is now 3-10-1 and 1-5-0 in the conference. They only have five league matches
left in their normal season.
Central will be hosting again next weekend matching up against Buffalo (8-2-3, 4-02 MAC) and Akron (6-7-1, 2-4-0 MAC).
Tonight the chippewas kept the stats close, the team was outshot 10-8 and had one
less corner kick (4-3).
I thought in the second half we were the far better initiators of the play, I thought
we really created some pretty good chances. said Head Coach Peter McGahey.
Unfortunately we had conceded too many in the first half we made the mountain
too big for us to climb over
Sophomore goalie Heather Laeufer started again tonight, and had 2 saves
throughout the game. This was her second consecutive game starting and her
second league game of the season.
I thought Heathers performance was solid, I thought she did a respectable job
building on her performance from Friday. Said McGahey.
Senior midfielder Emily Cooksey was the leading Chippewa, playing for only 45
minutes and leading the team with 3 shots tonight. Senior Laura Gosse was close
second with 2 shots tonight.
Coach McGahey says, We cant hit anymore more hurdles
Our margin for error now is really small, we really need to make sure were
performing and were ready and capitalizing on these next three games at home.
Overall were playing good, were ball possessing, were making adjustments, and
were creating chances. Weve just got to find ways to punch that ball through and
make other teams hills bigger.
The Chippewas will host Buffalo University on Friday, Oct. 17, at 4 p.m. They will
then stay at home and match up against Akron University on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 1
p.m.
