Longstreet
1. Speech: Longstreet grinned: she loves me, she loves me not. (Pg.#50)
I think this shows how sensitive and kind Longstreet is. He loves a girl that
he has left back home and maybe never see her again most likely. He
misses her and knows that he will have to win the war in order to see her
again. He cares about life, knows that war doesnt have to happen. But if
it comes down to it, he is a smart, brave soldier. He isnt like most soldiers
and generals in the war.
2. Thoughts: Longstreet thought: careful. (Pg.#58)
This is showing how smart and careful he in how he thinks. He knows how
the battle/war works and he knows how the other side strategizes based
off his thinking skills. So he is a man that should be in charge! He knows
how to get out of situations quickly and efficiently and he can teach an
army how to win a battle! A smart man with a careful and cunning ways
and strategies is someone who will most likely win the war. The other side
should watch out!
3. Emotions: George. Longstreet paused, then he said patiently, would
you like us to move the whole army out of the way and let you go first?
(Pg.#59)
I think Longstreet is a kind, patient man who cares and listens to his
soldiers input. He listens to what his soldiers have to say and uses his
best judgment of that to make his decision. In this quote, he knows how
much this man wants his troops in the front line, because its their home,
so Longstreet lets them move to the front line because he thinks its right.
Most generals wouldnt do that because they are so wrapped up in what
they are doing. But Longstreet isnt, he knows how much this means to
him, and because of his kindness and sincerity, he lets the man do what
he wants.
4. Actions: Longstreet, who loved to talk tactics and strategy, let it go.
(Pg.#61)
Actions say who you really are. Actions speak louder then words.
Longstreets actions say that he is a man of skill on the battlefield. He is a
man of kindness and of mercy. A man who knows what is best for his men
even if it kills him. He is a general that should be leading an army. He
takes his soldiers words into account, then wins based off his knowledge
and personal experiences. Overall, Longstreet is a hard general to come
by!
5. Looks: He bent down, scratched the black dirt into his fingers. He was
beginning to
warm to it; the words were beginning to flow. No one in front
of him was moving. He said, This is free ground.
He is a fully bearded man at the age of 42. He is stubborn, crude, but
also the best man for the job! He is in Second Command for General Lees

army and is his most important man. Longstreet knows how to get out of
situations and his judgment is spot on! He is also aware of the new
technology the war brings and the geography and nature of this war. No
matter what happens, Longstreet absolutely knows what he is doing!
