On arrival in Auckland, The City of Sails, seat in coach passengers will be met by our local

DAY 2 - AUCKLAND - WAITOMO - ROTORUA
Travel south through the Waikato region to arrive at Waitomo for a guided tour of the glowworm caves.
Continue to Rotorua this afternoon via Hobbiton Movie Set for a guided tour of this world-class

DAY 3 - ROTORUA
Visit Te Puia Thermal Reserve, Agrodome Farm Show and Rainbow Springs to view trout and wildlife.

DAY 4 - ROTORUA - WELLINGTON
Travel from Rotorua to Lake Taupo before heading south through the Central Plateau to Wellington, New
Zealands capital city. (B)

Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Wellington and a short guided tour of Te Papa (the Museum of New
Zealand) before enjoying a free afternoon to explore New Zealands capital city. (B)
DAY 6 - WELLINGTON - CHRISTCHURCH
Journey across Cook Strait, which separates the North and South Islands of New Zealand and into the
Marlborough Sounds with its sparkling clear waters and lush forests, before arriving in Picton. Travel
south through Blenheim and Kaikoura to reach the Garden City of Christchurch. (B)
DAY 7 - CHRISTCHURCH - DUNEDIN
Travel south across the Canterbury Plains to reach Scottish influenced Dunedin, renowned for the local
wildlife and Otago University. (B)
DAY 8 - DUNEDIN - QUEENSTOWN
This morning is free for optional activities. Leaving Dunedin, travel through South Otago, through
Balclutha and Gore and across the fertile Southland Plains to Lake Te Anau. Continue around the
southern arm of Lake Wakatipu to reach Queenstown. (B)
DAY 9 - QUEENSTOWN
A free day to explore the endless optional attractions available. Queenstown offers bungy jumping,
jetboating, white water rafting, gondola rides and much more. Optional activities not included in the tour
price. (B)
DAY 10 - QUEENSTOWN - GLACIER REGION
Depart Queenstown and travel via Lake Wanaka and through the historic Haast Pass, gateway to the
World Heritage Westland National Park. Continue up the West Coast past spectacular mountain ranges,
native forests and lakes to the glacier region of Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. For Self Drive clients, entry
to the Glacier Hot Pools is included. (B)

DAY 11 - GLACIER REGION - GREYMOUTH - CHRISTCHURCH


Travel north to Greymouth and board the world famous Tranz Alpine train (seat in coach passengers
only). Ascend through lush beech forests past the alpine village of Arthurs Pass before crossing the
spectacular Southern Alps. Travel over Canterbury Plains to Christchurch. (B)
DAY 12 - DEPARTURE DAY

DAY 3 - ROTORUA - NAPIER
This morning is at leisure. You might like to visit Rainbow Springs to complete your Rotorua sightseeing
(optional activity not included) before departing for Napier this afternoon. Travel south through the
Wairakei Geothermal area to arrive at Lake Taupo, New Zealands largest lake. Continue over rugged
mountain ranges and well cultivated farmland to arrive in the Art Deco city of Napier. (B)
DAY 4 - NAPIER
This morning is at your leisure to explore Napier, before joining an afternoon wine tour that will visit and
include tastings at 3 local wineries. (B)
DAY 5 - NAPIER - WELLINGTON
Travel through the Manawatu Gorge and Takapau Plains to Palmerston North, famous for its agricultural
university. Continue south to arrive in Wellington, New Zealands capital city. (B)
DAY 6 - WELLINGTON
Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Wellington and a short guided tour of Te Papa (the Museum of New

Visit Te Puia Thermal Reserve to see boiling mudpools and roaring geysers. Following this, visit Rainbow
Springs to see New Zealands trout, birds and wildlife before continuing to the Agrodome for a New
Zealand farm show featuring sheep dog demonstrations, cow milking and an introduction to the stars of
our sheep industry. The afternoon is at leisure.This evening enjoy an authentic Maori Hangi (feast) and

DAY 4 - ROTORUA - WELLINGTON
Travel south to reach the popular lake resort of Taupo and along the shores of Lake Taupo to Turangi,
before continuing on the Desert Road, dominated in the background by the three peaks of Ruapehu,
Ngauruhoe and Tongariro. Continue south through lush farmland before arriving in the Capital City of
Wellington. (B)
DAY 5 - WELLINGTON
Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Wellington and a short guided tour of Te Papa (the Museum of New
Zealand) before enjoying a free afternoon to explore New Zealands capital city. (B)
DAY 6 - WELLINGTON - PICTON - KAIKOURA
Journey across Cook Strait and into the Marlborough Sounds before arriving in Picton. Travel south

Leave Kaikoura behind as you turn inland and travel through North Canterbury to reach the Garden City

Travel across the fertile Canterbury Plains before arriving at Lake Tekapo. Visit the Church of the Good
Shepherd before continuing onto Mt Cook National Park. (B)
DAY 9 - MT COOK - QUEENSTOWN
Follow the shores of Lake Pukaki south to the small town of Twizel before continuing through the historic
Central Otago region to Lake Wakatipu and the Alpine Resort of Queenstown. (B)

DAY 10 - QUEENSTOWN

DAY 11 - QUEENSTOWN - MILFORD SOUND - TE ANAU
Follow the southern arm of Lake Wakatipu to Lumsden, and onward to Lake Te Anau. Enter the Eglinton
Valley and travel through the breath taking man made Homer Tunnel to reach Milford Sound. Enjoy a
cruise on this world famous fiord, dominated by Mitre Peak. Return to Te Anau. (B)
DAY 12 - TE ANAU - DUNEDIN
Cross the fertile Southland Plains through Gore and Balclutha to South Otago. Then travel north to the
Edinburgh of the South, Dunedin. The afternoon is free for optional activities. (B)

Travel north through lush farmland and a series of small farming communities to Christchurch. (B)

Farewell the City of Sails as you travel south to reach the market garden area of Pukekohe. Continue
through Hamilton - New Zealands fourth largest city and the fertile Waikato region to the Thermal City
of Rotorua. This afternoon is free in Rotorua to add optional activities if you choose. (B)
DAY 6 - ROTORUA - NATIONAL PARK
Leaving the Thermal City behind, drive to Taupo, home of New Zealands largest lake and the majestic
Huka Falls. Take some time to explore Taupo and the lake before driving around the edge of Lake Taupo
and into the Tongariro National Park. (B))
DAY 7 - NATIONAL PARK
Today is at leisure to explore the Tongariro National Park and the many walking tracks in the area,
including the world-famous Tongariro Crossing. If you wish to take this walk, we can arrange suitable
transfers to/from the start/finish of the track (not included in the tour price). (B)
DAY 8 - NATIONAL PARK - WELLINGTON
Departing the Central Plateau, head south through farmlands to the capital city, Wellington. (B)
DAY 9 - WELLINGTON - NELSON
Return your rental car this morning in Wellington to take the Interislander Ferry to Picton. Travel through
the Marlborough Sounds and enjoy the scenic view from the ferry. On arrival in Picton, collect your rental
car and continue through the Queen Charlotte Drive to Nelson. (B)

Today is at leisure to explore Nelson and the nearby Abel Tasman National Park. (B)
