Anne Frank and the Holocaust: Final Reflection


(10 points)
Writing Task:
Think about what weve viewed, read, and researched about the Holocaust,
Anne Frank and her family, and related topics. Respond to one of the
following questions in a page or two (double-spaced) of writing. Include
1. A clearly stated Opinion/Claim/Big Idea statement
2. A short preview of your main points/evidence to be discussed
3. Relevant reasons and evidence/examples from materials
viewed and/or read in class or found on your own
4. A thoughtful reflection/closing
Driving/Guiding Question(s):
Who was Anne Frank, why is she remembered, and what is the
significance of her life?
Anne Frank wrote: Its really a wonder that I havent given

up all my idealsin spite of everything, I still believe that people


are good at heart. Why, do you think, Anne wrote this then, and
what truth did it hold during the Holocaust? Why does it ring true
today?
Why is it important to study Anne Frank and the Holocaust?
How does Annes story compare with others of her time, and in
what ways does it relate to people and events of other historical times
and/or todays world?
*** Comparisons to another literary character are welcome (i.e.
Misha, Jonas, another?).
Opinion/Claim/Big Idea: Its important to study the Holocaust so it doesn't
happen again.

Preview of main points/evidence: People should learn about The


Holocaust so it can be prevented in the future.

Reason/Evidence: The Holocaust is a really bad event in world history


because millions of Jews (& some non-Jews) were killed for no reason.
Reason/Evidence: Jews did nothing wrong. Hitler was crazy and probably
psychopathic.
Reason/Evidence: People should learn about Anne Frank because she
wrote a whole diary and almost a whole book about her experience.
Reflection/Closing: Those are all reasons why people should study Anne
Frank and The Holocaust
