To Whom It May Concern,
‘My name is Karen Knaebel, and | am the dance director at Everett High School in Lansing,
MI. Over the past two years I have gotten to know Mikayla Dowell, and I feel that she is highly
deserving of being admitted into any University of her choice and receiving scholarships for her
commitments. Mikayla is an asset to the dance program and the Dance Company (a performing
group and the highest level dance class in the Lansing School District.) She is an inspiration to her
peers and to underclassmen. Mikayla is always trying to improve by asking questions and pushing
herself to learn more each day. She is currently exploring her own choreography and creating
dance works that are unique and memorable to her audience,
Mikayla has teacher, family and peer support; and we are proud that she has aspirations to
attend a University to continue her studies beyond high school. Mikayla works hard in two dance
classes, performs in the community with the Dance Company and performed in the year’s school
musical, “The Wiz". Mikayla also comes into my beginning level dance class after she spends in
morning at Lansing Community College. She shows other dancers how to execute specific
movements and models the discipline the dancers are expected to have. Mikayla is admired by
younger dancers and she helps those dancers reach their goals and improve themselves artistically.
Aside from being in the Everett Dance Company, Mikayla also stays after school to lean
Pointe Ballet, a form of dance that requires immense commitment. Mikayla's work ethic allows
her to excel in her dance classes, in the Dane Company and her other commitments, such as
volleyball, the musical, and her part-time job.
Finally, Mikayla’s dedication, strong will, compassion and leadership will allow her to
reach her career goals, An early memory I have of Mikayla is realizing how hard she works during
the first few weeks of knowing her. She began dancing in a beginning level class and soon after
‘was moved to a level 3 class. This year she made it into level 4, the highest level class at Everett
From the day I met her, I have observed her strong will and determination, | am proud to
recommend Mikayla Dowell to study at any University of her choice, and to be awarded
scholarships in order for her to reach her goals and continue to be an inspiration to younger
generations. Please feel free to contact me at any time regarding Mikayla’s studies and character.
Thank you for your time and consideration of Mikayla Dowell.
Sincergly
