He has made about 20 books. He has been writing for 25 years.
He made the website about himself so kids could ask him
questions and he could answer them. He is 85 years old. When
Chris Van Allsburg was born he lived in an old farm house in East
Grand Rapids Michigan. He was born on June 18 1949.
He has won Caldecott Medal for U.S picture book illustration for
Jumanji. Growing up in the 1950s in Grand Rapids Michigan boys
were supposed to be athletics. Some other illustrators made titles
but they wanted him to write the book and they do the pictures
he did that to about 6 books. All the books Chris Van Allsburg has
made are picture books because they are for children.
He would study writing more than any subject in school he loved
writing so much. He began writing in 1972. He began drawing in
1979. His studio was so far that he would get a handful of pencils
and a stack of paper. The Polar Express had millions of copies
sold. One of his movies came out at November 2005. The
Sweetest Fig was also a movie. He has been writing for 25 years.
