    firmadvocateoftheabsurdistandnihilisticidealofnothingreallymatters,andthereisnoreal
    largerpurposeintermsofHumanity.Thishasbeenprevalentformuchofthenovel,including
    thepartthatstandsoutmost,hismotherspassing,wherehecanevenbenotedasmentioning
    thatthecryingofhismothersfriendsannoyedhim.Thisideathattheactionsofhumansare
    insignificantandthatthecourseoftheuniverseisindifferenttothemisdevelopedandexplored
    throughoutthenovel,andbecomesespeciallyevident,moreimportantlytoMeursaultwhenhe
    realizesthathisdeathsentencewillbecarriedout,andthathislifewillbeover.However,asthis
    happens,thereaderbeginstosenseatransitioninMeursaultsmantraandperceptionofthe
    universe,whichisbestexplainedwiththequote,Asifthatblindragehadwashedmeclean,rid
    meofhopeforthefirsttime,inthatnightalivewithsignsandstars,Iopenedmyselftothe

    feelsasenseofpeaceastheuncertaintywashesaway.Also,hecanbenotedasmentioningthe
    ideaoftheuniversebeingabrotherandhowhenowfeelslessalone.Previously,withthe
    oldMeursault,thisnotionwouldhavebeenscoffedatandhewouldhavesimplysaidthatit
    didntmatter.Now,thereaderbeginstofeel,notsomuchthereschange.Withthistransition,

    westarttoevenseeglimmersofhappinessandacceptance,nottheblindrageandbleak
    indifferencewehadbecomeusedto.Weasthereadersseethatheismuchmorecontentwithlife
    becausehefeelsthathehasfoundpurposeinhislife,thatitnowhasmeaningandasettaskheis
    toaccomplishtofurthersocietyandtheuniverse.Eventhoughthiscompanionshipdoesnt
    comeinthetraditionalsenseandcomestoMeursaultintheformoftheangrymob,heisfine
    withthat.Whatismoreimportanttohim,thatthismobcreatespurposewithlife,andthathis
    taskinordertoprogressthesocietyissimple:todie.
