Here is an example on how to practice your presentation. (Unit 1: A Motto for Life)
First, write out what you want to say and then practice saying it.
!
Hello everyone! If youre like me, you enjoy helping people and make them feel
good. Being kind to others is one of my personal values. Some other things I value
include honesty, and my relationships with friends and family. Today Im going to share
my personal motto and explain its meaning. Then Ill go on to talk about some past
experiences that relate to my motto. Finally, Ill tell you how my motto helps me in life.
!
My motto is A candle loses none of its light by lighting another candle. In other
words, when you light one candle with another, the first candle doesnt go out, it stays
just as bright. This means that it doesnt take a lot of effort to be kind to others, and it
makes us feel good.
!
I try to live my life by this motto as much as possible. For instance, a few years
ago, I found a bag containing a wallet, camera, and other valuables on a park bench.
There was a hotel card in the bag, so I took it straight to that hotel. In the hotel lobby, a
young man, in a panic, was in the middle of telling the staff that hed lost his bag
somewhere. He was really pleased to see his bag and was very grateful that Id brought
it to the hotel. He offered me some money as a reward but I didnt accept it.
!
My motto helps me to be honest. It also reminds me that I can make a world a
better place by doing something kind for someone else. Remember that you can be a
candle, too, and its easy to light many other candles each and every day. Thank you.

Hello everyone! Are you looking for some excitement? Do you want to
experience exotic cultures? If your answer is yes, then I have the perfect vacation for
you. Its the South Island Adventure, an outdoor nature trek. This is perfect for people
who want an exciting, active vacation.
!
The South Island of New Zealand is located near Australia in the beautiful Pacific
Ocean. Its one of the most fascinating places in the world. The South Island is famous
for its national parks, picturesque countryside, and exotic plants and wildlife. It also
offers stunning mountain views and clear blue ocean water.
!
On this trip, you can hike through Kahurangi National Park, which is situated in
the northwest part of the South Island. Youll be able to explore deep caves and rich
forests. You can learn about the amazing wildlife, including birds and insects that can be
found nowhere else in the world. Youll have a chance to see New Zealands national
symbol, the kiwi bird, too! Youll also have an opportunity to experience ancient Maori
culture while paddling on a river in a traditional Maori canoe, and you can visit a
traditional Maori meetinghouse. On your last day, youll be able to go watching and
swimming with dolphins.
!
The accommodation on this trip will be unforgettable. On the first and last nights,
youll stay in a luxurious four-star hotel in Christchurch. Then during the trek, youll
spend six nights in a cozy bed-and-breakfast near the park, with all meals included.
New Zealand is known for its friendly people, and the family youll stay with will make
you feel very welcome.
!
Does this sound like a dream vacation? I think it does! The cost is $1,200 for
eight nights. This vacation includes seven days of educational outdoor activities and
breathtaking natural scenery. Its a wonderful opportunity to explore the great outdoors.
So, what are you waiting for? Its time to go on a South Island Adventure!
