What political, economic and social divisions in L.A. nations hinder successful democracies?

The political problem that Latin America has is that throughout history Latin American nations
have been apprised by either Spain or Portugal and the fact that they have had dictators since
they became self-governing nations. During the 60 up till the late 90s when they started trying to
establish some kind of democracy or new government the U.S helped a dictator gain power once
more.
The economic problem is that the dictators that were in charge burrowed huge amounts of money
causing a huge debt in most Latin American nations. Also Latin America has a huge gap in
money made per person you are either rich or poor there is no middle class this effects the
successfulness of a democracy because it makes it easy for the rich to gain and keep power and
hard for the poor to get any power in the government. Also the opportunities to make money in
Latin America still goes to the rich. There are no opportunities for the poor if you are born poor
you normally stay poor.
The Social divisions make it hard for a democracy to work because Latin America has so many
ethnic groups but only one seems to be able to get and keep power. The people that are in the
lower class stay in the lower class and is hard for them to make any money.
