Ancient Egyptian Warfare

Although the ancient Egyptians of the old and middle

kingdoms did go to war, it wasnt until the new
kingdom that Egypt became an advanced military
power. By this time, the army had more sophisticated
weapons, including the wheeled chariot and a
composite bow. The army itself was made up of a
mixture of conscripts, professional Egyptians soldiers,
and foreign mercenaries, all under the command of a
general who in turn answered to the pharaoh himself.
