State Meet Information
Greetings all:
The Class C State Track Championships looms in our future, less than two weeks away. The season has
gone by quickly with strange weather either has us freezing or boiling. This was not going to be a meet
that I directed because I had officially retired, however, sometimes things happen so here I am again. I
hope that we can all work together to make this a great meet. We certainly have a beautiful venue so now
it is up to our student athletes. Enough said.
Meet location: Yarmouth High School, 286 West Elm Street, Yarmouth, Maine 04096
If you are uncertain of this location plug the address into Google Maps or MapQuest.
Meet start time: 10:00 am for both running and field events
Entries: Please use the events file that has been sent to you or downloaded from either Sub5 or
MileSplits calendar. Your electronic entries must be received at the above email address by 7:00 pm
Tuesday June 2nd. As soon as your entries have been imported you will be sent a copy of what was
received. You should review this, and only this, faxed back-up copies are no longer being used. The
responsibility of ensuring that your entries are accurate is completely up to you. Seeds in the form
of performance lists will be posted on Wednesday June 3 and the seeded will be posted on Friday
(possibly even Thursday evening). Any changes after Tuesday night will only be spelling, not seed
marks.
Times must be submitted as FAT or converted from handheld to FAT by adding .24. (Example: 11.0
becomes 11.24 and 11.90 becomes 12.14).
Qualifying procedure: Please check the 2015 MPA outdoor track bulletin thoroughly. Athletes qualify
based on an Automatic standard and a Provisional standard. Please make sure you are using the Class
C standards. All athletes must have met either the automatic or provisional standard to be entered into
the state meet. Please do not enter athletes who do not at least meet the Provisional Standard. There are
no standards for relays. Remember to enter all potential relay team members (up to eight) because once
the seeding is complete you will not be allowed to change the runners on your relay teams.
Seeding: Fields will be filled to 32. If there are more than 32 athletes who have met the automatic
qualification standard, all will be seeded. If fewer than 32 athletes meet the automatic standard the field
will be filled up to 32 with those who have made the provisional standard. No athletes will be seeded
who have not met at least the provisional standard.
The MPA scratch rule is in effect starting at 7 PM on June 2. If an athlete scratches from an event or
fails to show for an event, that athlete is immediately done for the rest of the meet. Performances up to
that time will stand. Make sure your athletes report for events on time. There will be a time schedule
posted on the web and available at the meet.
Buses: schools should drop off athletes near the baseball field (see map) and then go to the park and ride
parking lot on US Route 1 and Exit 15 on I-295 (north/southbound).
Athlete/team area: Teams should set up in the outfield of the baseball field (above the track). Please
refrain from throwing Frisbees, balls, etc. for the safety of athletes and spectators. Also, the playing of
loud music or engaging in distracting behaviors will not be permitted. These rules also pertain to
spectators.
