May 22, 2015 12:10 am
According to the company's legal director, Sociedade Gestora de Terminais (Sogester) of
Angola will invest more than US$21 million in buying machinery and cargo trucks, to
operate at the port of Namibe.
The companys plans for the cargo terminals involve refurbishment of infrastructure and the
introduction of management methods to achieve cost reductions and a better use of available
resources. Sogester will manage the Porto de Namibe cargo terminals in partnership with two
foreign companies, one from the United Arab Emirates and one from Denmark. Sogester
itself is the result of a partnership between APM Terminals of the A.P. Moller-Maersk, and
Gesto de Fundos, which since 2007 has had the concession on container Terminal II of the
port of Luanda.
The initial 2015 investment agreements had been signed earlier in the year totaling US$800
million, and increased to US$1.1 billion in mid-May 2015
