Top Senior
Projects
By Lauren Adams

Each year, seniors are given the opportunity to submit an application

to be chosen as one of the Outstanding Senior Projects. The application
process includes answering the following two questions: What was
your project and how did it help the community? and Why do you
believe you should be considered for this award?
Of the students chosen, one or more are given a $1,000 scholarship
for having the best project. Eleven projects were chosen to be a part
of the best of group this year, and out of these, three students received
the scholarship.
The panel of judges for the award includes both teachers and local
business owners, all of whom decide upon which students really went
above and beyond the expectations for the senior projects.

inspired them to pursue science.

One of the judges for the best of group, Tim Flavin, described, Ive
seen a lot of different types of projects, but there used to be a focus on
the community aspect. This year it was very diversified.
From hosting youth events, holding benefit dinners, and building bus
stops, the topics varied greatly this year, yet all proving to be beneficial
for both the community and the student body.
Preparation for hours on their projects, the effort put forth by the
seniors shined through during their presentations.
Todd Simonson, another judge, stated, This years individuals had
more self-confidence than prior years.
And while all the presentations were spectacular, the winners will be
announced on Tuesday, May 26 at Scholarship Night.
