Learning Intentions
By the end of this lesson, students will have had the opportunity to demonstrate their
ability to:
Read digital and analogue clocks to the quarter hour
Resources and ICT
Whiteboard clock
Signpost
Lesson Procedure:
1. Draw circle on the white board
2. Have a student come to board and break it into halves
3. Explain a clock is in halves
4. Ask student which half is past and to explain that if the hand if half way (on the 6) it's half
past
5. Have another student cut the clock into quarters
6. Explain that one side is quarter past and the other is quarter to
7. Go through this concept slowly having students cut the clock into pieces.
8. Draw some examples and have students answer what the time is
9. Have only year threes answer some questions to the ten minutes of past and to.
10. Repeat with digital time
11. If time have student do their textbook pages

Differentiation of learners:
To cater for students with needing additional support, the following strategies have been put
in utilised:
Assisted support is provided via teacher aide to students who require it
Assessment & Evaluation of Learning:
Students were able to read time to the quarter hour
Assessment: For learning
Note areas where students require further guidance.
