You can perform basic math operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in Excel by entering values in cells and using a formula. The document provides steps to multiply two numbers as an example:
1) Enter the first number in cell A1 and the multiplication sign in B1
2) Enter the second number in cell C1
3) In cell D1, use the formula =A1*C1 to multiply the values
4) The answer will appear in cell D1
This formula method can also be used to add, subtract or divide values by changing the operator in the formula.

How to Add, subtract, multiply and divide on an Excel Spread
sheet by using a simple formula. You might use an Excel Spread sheet for budgeting, for different values, and to figure out equations. With your two values/numbers, for example you want to multiply them both on An Excel Spread sheet. Click the Excel icon and you will see a spreadsheet with boxes/squares everywhere. You will see columns on top (letters) and rows (numbers) on the left side. Step 1: Take your first value (ex.8) and enter it in the first box A1 (A is the Column and 1 is the row in the side.) Step 2: Then beside A1 in B1 put your multiplication sign. (The multiplication sign is a Star). Step 3: Then in C1 (in a different box now enter the other value which in my case is a 7. So far we have 8*7.all in different boxes. Step 4: On D1 (this is the Formula part) first click the equal sign into the box. Step 5: Then just click A1 (so far you will see an equal sign and A1 beside it in a different color automatically.) Step 6: After that put in the multiplication sign (star) right after A1. Step 7: Then click C1 (C1 will appear in a different color automatically) now you will have C1 after the star. Step 8: Then click enter on your keyboard you will get your answer in D1 or you can click on the green check mark on the left top corner area beside the red x to get the answer. Step 9: Now you should have the answer for 8*7 that is 56. This formula works for all equations like addition, division and subtraction. You just need to replace the multiplication sign (star) with a plus, minus or division sign in B1.
