Planned 11th grade United States history curriculum based on Common Core skills of critical
reading, analysis of non-fiction texts, and argumentative and informative writing.
Adapted curriculum to fit needs of English Language Learners.
Implemented individual student plans for learning in a one-on-one setting with children, where
most students had learning disabilities.
Received over 70 hours of training to teach written and oral skills, including spelling, decoding,
and reading comprehension, and learned how to build a positive learning environment.
Researched with the San Luis Obispo History Center to create three Chumash inspired
activities and an information booklet for Childrens Day in the Plaza.
Mentored low income and first generation college students in group and one-on-one settings
by using strong active listening and communication skills to assess their progress and needs.
Oriented these new students to Cal Poly and San Luis Obispo by showing students helpful
and applicable campus resources as well as planning group activities around San Luis Obispo.
