To Whom It May Concern,
Tam writing this letter in support of Crystal Ellis. I have worked with Crystal in my role as principal
at Oak Grove Elementary over the last three years. Crystal has served students at Oak Grove in multiple
roles including counselor and behavior interventionist.
Ihave appreciated Crystal’s work to improve our school’s approach to student attendance this year.
She has invested a considerable amount of time and effort into this process. Her extensive work with the
county and the juvenile court system has helped to significantly decrease chronic attendance problems.
‘Along with her focus in this area, she has been able to find more resources for our families who are
struggling to meet basic needs. This has improved the likelihood that parents will be able to make sure
‘their children can get to school on time and be ready to learn,
Crystal has also continued to oversee and maintain extensive PBIS/RTI systems to support the needs
of students with chronic behavioral and emotional challenges. She has worked closely with our school
psychologist to review data and design interventions.
Crystal has also recruited and trained counseling interns from Portland State University. Their work to
provide interventions with students as well as help to implement PBIS systems has been much
appreciated. While district resources have been dwindling Crystal was able to increase the manpower to
support our students in this way.
‘The level of need for individual students and families has increased significantly over the last couple
of years. Ihave observed that Crystal has had to endure and support students as they have faced crisis
after crisis. She has developed high levels of trust with parents and students. When necessary she has
confronted parents directly in order to support the needs of a child. I appreciate Crystal’s strong
commitment to her work. She loves and cares for students in so many ways. She has a strong grounding
in her values and beliefs about the needs of students and families. This makes her one of most effective
counselors I have had the opportunity to work with.
I would like to wish Crystal the best as she continues her career exploration. Please don’t hesitate to
contact me if I can provide further information.
Sincerely,
RH —
