Document Analysis 19th
The author of this poem is Max Schnekenburger who, is mostly known for poems
about patriotism. The meaning of this poem shows that the soldiers of Germany are
strict on protecting their country. German soldiers as it tells in the poem stand
strong to defend their motherland telling what they feel and how they are feeling if
any invader attacks. It says that the soldiers are only standing to defend Germany
to fix the wrong it has done throughout the war. This poem goes to show that
Germany thought it was doing the right thing trying to avenge the death of
Archduke Ferdinand of Austria but in reality the Archduke never realized the people
of Serbia hated him due to the language being different than Austrian or Hungarian
languages, lack of communication would be the main reason for Archduke
Ferdinands death.
