Dear Ms. Hentz,
Discreet Telemachus awaits you! He has come back from Pylos to celebrate the
Odyssey Party! I should be Telemachus for the Odyssey Party because he is a courageous, he
is leader, and because he is wise.
First, I should be Telemachus because he is courageous. I can relate to that because in
our group discussions, I take up the confidence to point out some important things that no one
has ever mentioned. In addition, I even sometimes try to ask questions that I honestly dont
know the answer, but everyone in the class thinks I am insane. One time, during the Sparta and
Athens smartboard activity, I thought that one of the answers was wrong, but my whole class
thought I was right.Then when the answers was revealed I was the only one who was right.
Telemachus had to face something just like that when he held a council. Even though the suitors
thought he was just a little kid, he believed in himself. He also had a spear in his hand, which I
will have(I wont poke anyone except for some of the suitors) in my hand throughout the whole
party.
Next, the part of Telemachus resembles me because he is a leader. He is able to tell his
mom to go to her room and she even sees the change in him. Telemachus is very young to
actually become a leader,but he believes in himself and does what is supposed to be
accomplished. Likewise, I am one of the youngest students in GT, but I am able to hold up the
responsibilities. I like to go out of my comfort zone and do things I would think would be crazy
for me to do. For instance, Telemachus going to Pylos is like me going to Virginia and Scotland.
We both have never traveled, but we had the courage to do it. That reminds me that if
Telemachus was in our modern day world, his favorite company would be Nike: Just Do It.
Finally, I should be Telemachus because we are both wise. Sometimes I may not be
wise and make careless mistake just like Telemachus, but in the end you really see the wisdom
behind our words. Just like how Athena helps Telemachus, I pray to my God that he fills me with
wisdom. We are both alike in ways, that we are favored and blessed. One way Telemachus is
wise is that he doesn revisit Nestor again before going home. I sometimes make wise remarks
in class that do help my peers too.
If Telemachus was someone else, Athena would probably not be happy. We are different
in some ways, but the point is that we are alike. Therefore, in conclusion I should be
Telemachus for the Odyssey Party because he is a courageous, he is leader, and because he is
wise. So, get ready for my homecoming for I will not waste any time because I heard that some
suitors will be vexing the party.
