Professional Planning Experience
I have gained 30+ working days professional experience within the Urban Planning Industry at Gassman
Development Perspectives, a private planning, surveying, design, and environmental consultancy. I was
involved in a range of roles in the firm, including property inquiries and due diligence reporting, DA report
writing, reviewing, and editing as well as completing specific planning scheme comparisons regarding the
incoming revised planning schemes in SEQ. I have an intimate knowledge of the local planning schemes in
the region and the ability to analyse and find solutions to planning issues.
The experience has proved invaluable and has given me practical knowledge of planning in South East
Queensland and allowed me to apply the skills I have learnt throughout my tertiary education. I have gained
practical skills that involve:

Retail and Coaching Experience

My employment in a range of retail areas as well as my experience coaching school sport has contributed to
the development of my communication and interpersonal skills. I maintain a professional attitude but am
extremely easy going and able to communicate easily with a variety of stakeholders. These skills are vital
within the planning industry as urban planners inherently have to coordinate and communicate with a number
of professionals in a range of disciplines.

Personal Qualities
-I am driven, hardworking and pride myself on producing a high standard of work. I am always willing to learn
and develop my skills as a planner to excel in my profession;
-My personable and easy going nature allows me to work with a variety of people in a range of different

Activities and Interests
Planning
I am currently in my final year of my bachelor of Urban and Environmental Planning at Griffith University Gold
Coast. I have a keen interest in the planning sector and understanding of the built environment, particularly in
design. It has allowed me to gain skills in areas including Environmental Impact Assessment, GIS, AutoCAD
and Revit Software as well as an understanding of sustainable development and design and its various forms.
The course has changed my perception of cities and how they function in regards to transport, development,
amenities and the environment.
Sustainable development and environmental awareness
I have a strong connection to the natural environment and endeavour to spend as much time as possible
outdoors. I enjoy discussing development that utilises and work in conjunction with the environment to
produce sustainable results and using innovative building design. These are the projects I am most interested
in because they are necessary to guarantee future sustainability.
Retail Experience
Previously I worked at Woolworths Southport Park for four years and thoroughly enjoyed my work. I was a
Checkouts Supervisor and was given the responsibility of managing checkouts, helping colleagues as well as
provide customer assistance. This has developed my interpersonal skills as well as my problem solving and
practical workplace skills. I am currently working part time at Liquorland which has further developed my
interpersonal skills and my ability to react positively in various situations.
Surf Life Saving and Water Sports
Since living on the Gold Coast, I have been heavily involved in various water sports, including surf lifesaving
and bodyboarding. I have completed both my Bronze Medallion and First id certificates in Surf Life Saving and
previously volunteered at Surfers Paradise Surf Lifesaving Club. As well as this I also bodyboard regularly and
generally love being in the ocean.

Rowing
During high school I rowed for five years and during my final year was chosen to represent my school in the
1st VIII. I enjoy the technical and fitness aspects of the sport and have continued my involvement in the school
program as a coach. I have coached during both the St Hildas and TSS season and gained my Certificate 1
in Rowing Coaching from Rowing Queensland. Recently I coached the Southport Year 11 3 rd VIII to a win at
the 2015 Head of the River and was successful throughout the season, gaining a number of podiums.
Overseas Study and Travel
I have been lucky enough to complete a 2 semester student exchange (10 months) in the Netherlands at
Utrecht University. It has broadened my understanding of international planning practices, environmental and
urban sustainability as well as international governance and organisations such as the European Union. As
well as this, I have travelled to an extensive range of countries globally, developing my adaptability and
communication in a variety of situations.
