Re: Compulsory Year 8 and 9 Drug and Alcohol Education Evening When: Tuesday April 21st, 2015 5.30pm 7.30pm Where: John E. Higgs Hall (MacKenzie Street Campus) As part of the ongoing commitment to the welfare and education of our students, Girton Grammar School will again be hosting a compulsory Drug and Alcohol Information Evening for Year 8 and 9 students and their parents/guardians. It is a requirement that parents and students sit together as a family group and students are expected to wear full winter uniform. As you can appreciate the issues surrounding alcohol and other drug use are a pressing concern in society today. Girton Grammar School believes that the evening is valuable for the education of students and parents/guardians alike. It is vital that both students and parents are fully aware of the concerns and are armed with accurate and current information to address them openly and honestly with one another. This evening is an important extension of the Schools Religious Education and Personal Development curriculum. It is imperative that parents/guardians attend the evening with their children to further enhance the partnership shared by the School and families in the education of their children. Girton Grammar School is fortunate to have secured again the services of Australias renowned child psychologist, Dr Michael CarrGregg (http://www.michaelcarr-gregg.com.au/) to be our guest speaker on the evening. Dr Carr-Gregg is a dynamic and informative presenter, which should make the night both educational and engaging. The cost of the evening is expected to be approximately $20 per student and will be charged to all students accounts. Included in this cost is a show bag containing a selection of very informative brochures from the Australian Drug Foundation, the Beyond Blue Organisation and the State and Federal Governments.
