History of thrasher magazine


In 1981, three guys came up with an idea to make a skateboarding magazine. They didnt
know what to call the magazine so they used the main CEO, Kevin Thatcher, to make the name
Thrasher. Eric Swenson was the Co-founder of Thrasher and also the chief skateboard designer
for Independent trucks. Partner of Eric and owner of Independent trucks is Fausto Vitello, Fausto
was also co-owner of Thrasher Magazine, Fausto also founded DLX in San Francisco and Street
Corner.

April 22, 2008 while biking with some of his friends in Woodside, California

Eric Swenson died by suicide, he killed himself in front of the police


station in San Francisco, California. He put a gun in his mouth and shot himself on a Monday
morning the reasons are still a mystery. Today he is remembered as a hero in skateboarding
history.

Kevin Thatcher is the most important person in


skateboarding history. He was the first editor for Thrasher and the publisher of Thrasher and
other publications. He kept skating up after 1981 when it was going down and skateboarding
came back up because of him.

Here is the first issue of Thrasher magazine made. Thrashers skate


moto was to skate and destroy. After the first magazine came out it
was a immediate success and their website is usually busy.
