My friend Bassil prays to Allah each day,

Does works of mercy and is kind and just
Kahlil, the Hindu also stops to pray
to many Gods, and does good, for he must

My good friend Morton, died. A righteous jew;

But while he lived the needy had a friend.
He was the kindest man I ever knew
And my heart says our friendship will not end.

If heaven's not a place those friends will share,

Then I'm not sure I'd really like it there.
