WaterDistributionSystems
The purpose of distribution system is to deliver water to consumer with appropriate quality, quantity and
pressure.Distributionsystemisusedtodescribecollectivelythefacilitiesusedtosupplywaterfromitssource
tothepointofusage.
RequirementsofGoodDistributionSystem
1. Waterqualityshouldnotgetdeterioratedinthedistributionpipes.
2. Itshouldbecapableofsupplyingwateratalltheintendedplaceswithsufficientpressurehead.
3. Itshouldbecapableofsupplyingtherequisiteamountofwaterduringfirefighting.
4. Thelayoutshouldbesuchthatnoconsumerwouldbewithoutwatersupply,duringtherepairofany
sectionofthesystem.
5. Allthedistributionpipesshouldbepreferablylaidonemetreawayorabovethesewerlines.
6. Itshouldbefairlywatertightastokeeplossesduetoleakagetotheminimum.
LayoutsofDistributionNetwork
Thedistributionpipesaregenerallylaidbelowtheroadpavements,andassuchtheirlayoutsgenerallyfollow
thelayoutsofroads.Thereare,ingeneral,fourdifferenttypesofpipenetworksanyoneofwhicheithersingly
orincombinations,canbeusedforaparticularplace.Theyare:

RadialSystem
