Research Project Mussolini

Benito Mussolini rose to power by promising Italy that he would make it into a great
nation. He made 8
hour work days and gained the support of the people and high ranking officials.
Mussolini also gained
the support of the church which made religious study in all schools mandatory. It
was easy to gain
power because he was a great speaker and was very confident. He created a fascist
government since
democracy and monarchy had failed. By 1919 It left Italy poor and in ruins due to
inflation and the cost
of keeping soldiers fed and safe was a burden on the economy so the government
resorted to printing
money. The middle class was affected the most but due to inflation printing money
was scarce. This
inflation changed many of Italians political views. In 1925 Mussolini made himself
dictator, he slowly
become even more powerful. Mussolini made three different battles, called The
Battle for Land, The
Battle for Lira, and The Battle for Grain. Mussolini helped Italy become a self
sufficient and
independent country. Mussolini made many enemies so he needed a big army to
protect Italy and
himself. So he had hospitals and maternities built to encourage more healthy births
and marriages.
During world War II Mussolini decided to ally himself with Adolf Hitler but Hitler
humiliated Mussolini by
starting World War II when Mussolini was still recuperating from another battle.
Mussolini didnt have
the resources or soldiers so he backed out of participating in the war. Soon after
Mussolini resigned

from dictator and was later arrested. But Hitler sent German soldiers to save him
from prison, Mussolini
moved his government to Northern Italy but he was captured by Italian partisans
and was shot and
killed. He was hung upside down in a plaza in Milan.
