medicinalpreventivesforparasitesanddiseases,aswellasotheroptionsforpestcontrol.

competitionattheUniversityofPlattevilletoday.Thefirstthingwedidwascreatean
asymmetricaltrianglearrangementusingacenterpieceanddifferentclippings.AfterthatIwas
movedintoatestingroomwhereItookthewrittentest,andsoonafterwardswentintothe
greenhousewhereItookplaceinidentifying50differentplants.Althoughitwashardforme
becauseigotmovedtotheFloricultureteam3daysbeforethecompetition,ourteamstill
placed4thplace.Imhopingthatnextyearwecanmoveontostate

fairandstayedthereallday.Ispendalotoftimelookingatthedifferenthorsesaswellas
sittinginthecoliseumtowatchsomeofthedifferentpresentationsthattheyhadgoingon.
TheonesthatIstayedforwereabouttheAmericanSaddlebred,aswellasthedifferent
breedsofdonkeys,andtheMule.Ialsowatchedinanotherbuildingthetrainingofayoung
horseandtheimportanceofhavingagoodrelationshipwithyourhorse.Therewasalsoalot
ofdifferentstallsandbarnswithhorses,ManyoftheownersIwasabletotalktoandinteract
withaswellasaskquestions.IalsofoundandinterestingboothwherethethemewasSpirit

Horses.Ittalkedalotabouthorsetherapyandhowdifferenthorsescanhavecertain
connectionstodifferentpeople.OverallIhadagreattimeatthefairandImetalotof
awesomeknowledgeablepeople.

Thisclassisofferedthroughthe
agriculturaldepartmentatourschool,topiccoveredwerethingslikecowjudgingandcare,
horsecare,smallanimalcareandreproduction.Skeletal/muscularsystems,andparasitic/
differentbodysystems.Thisclassalsotaughtmehowtosuturesaswellascheckpulses/
heartrate/bloodpressureinanimalsaswellasemergencycare.

TheMother'sDayPlantsalewas
extremelysuccessful,manypeoplecamerightawayinthemorningtocomegettheirplants.
Asfarasmypositionswent,Ihelpedpeoplefindwhattheyneeded,checkedpeopleout,and
helpedpeoplecarrytheirplantstotheircars.EveryonceandawhileItalkedtopeopleabout
howtogrowtheirplants,thefavorableconditionsthatwereneededinordertogrowthem
quickly,aswellasdiscussingdifferentkindsoftomatoes,peppers,andplantvarieties.Overall
itwasaverysuccessfulsale.

caringfortheanimalswhentheclassisdoingotherwork.Ialsosupervisethelab/outdoor
activitieswiththeanimalswhenneededaswellasdirectingstudents.

Worlddairyexpoandthemidwesthorsefairhasallowedmetoconnectwithothersthatshare
thesamepassionswithme.Italsohelpedmemakeconnectionstoothersinthecommunity
aswellashelpingmegetajobatJungs.TheagriculturalclassessuchastheVetScience
andvermedicine,aswellasthePlantandSoilScienceclasseshavehelpedmeshapemy
passionsandgivemeabetterdirection.
BeingapartoftheFFAhastaughtmealotaboutbeingapartofateam,aswellas
whatitsliketobealeader.IfitwasntfortheFFAortheagriculturaldepartmentIwouldntbe
asinvolvedinthecommunity,orhaveasmuchexperience,orknowledgeofanimalsand
plants.
