Bird

Objectives :
At the end of this lesson, children would be able to learn that :
-

Birds have a head, a pair of eyes, a nose, a beak, a tail, a pair of wings
and a pair of legs.
Birds have feathers on their body. Most birds can fly.
Birds lay eggs.
Allah creates birds.

Procedures :
1. Bring the children out to the garden
2. Ask them to look at the sky. What can they see?
3. Listen to the children answers. They may find airplanes, clouds and birds
in the sky.
4. Encourage them to talk about things that fly in the sky.
5. Return to the classroom, hold the picture of a bird or bird model. Ask the
children:
- How do you describe a bird? The bird can fly, has 2 legs, has wings,
has beak, and has feathers.
- Can you make the sound of a bird?
- Can a bird talk? No, but it can make sound.
- Why can a parrot talk? It has thick tongue.
- What do birds eat? worms, seeds.
- Do they have teeth? No.
- How big is a bird?
- Which is the smallest bird? The Hummingbird.

Which is the biggest bird? The Ostrich.


Can a bird fly? Yes. How? With its wings.
Do birds lay eggs? yes.

6. Nex, by using the poster, get the children to identify each body part of the
bird. Tell them that birds have a head, a pair of eye, a nose, a beak, a tail,
a pair of wings, and a pair of legs.
7. Now, compare each body part on the bird with human beings. Do we have
head/eyes/nose/ beak/tail,wings/feathers and legs?
8. Activity : Beautiful flying bird!!!
a. Give each child a bird shaped card, a straw and some colourful
feathers.
b. Get them to decorate the bird shaped card with colour pencil and
stick the feathers onto their bird card.
c. The children can bring home the beautiful flying bird.
