Elons Annual 24-hour Children's Miracle Network Dance Marathon

Hundreds of students and faculty will congregate in Alumni Gym, located in Koury
Athletic Center, April 10-11 to celebrate Elon Universitys electric 24-hour dance
marathon

In a matter of weeks, Elon Universitys

campus will convene to make one of
Elons most beloved traditions come
to life. ElonTHON, a variation of the
nationally acclaimed THON, is Elons
adaptation of the 24-hour Children's
Miracle Network dance marathon. From 6 pm Friday April 10 to 6 pm Saturday April 11,
students will gather in Alumni Gym, part of Koury Athletic Center, and dance to support
the efforts of Duke Childrens Hospital.

Founded in 2003, THON strives to make a difference in the lives of the children
receiving treatment from Duke Childrens Hospital & Health Center. In addition to raising
funds for affected children and their families- ElonTHON 2014 generated $ 176,216.94ElonTHON offers emotional value and support as well; during the event, students and
faculty have the opportunity to interact with miracle children, and learn their stories of
medical perseverance. Every year, these stories make a lasting effect on the Elon
community.

This will be my fourth year participating in ElonTHON, said Elon University senior
Erica Martin. Every year, meeting such brave children energizes me to become more
involved in the greater community.

Other students are excited to attend the event who never have before.

I heard about ElonTHON before I even came [to Elon], said Elon University freshman
Kaitlyn McDonnell. Im so excited to be involved with such a great cause, and get to do
my favorite thing- dance!

Also included are thrilling live performances, games and contests, and unlimited
dancing. In fact, to represent the resilience of the young warriors, ElonTHON
participants remain dancing and moving for the entire duration of their shifts!

Information about how to register for and donate to the event is available on
ElonTHONs website. Additionally, ElonTHON will be sending live twitter updates to
further promote the event.
