SanFranciscoisknowntohavegreatattractions,suchasthepier39,resultinginalotof
trafficintheprocess.LookingatSanFranciscosincome,wereabletotellthatSanFranciscois
theplaceforhighincome,andperhapsthemiddleclassandabove.Assumingthatapersongains
moremoneyastheybecomeolder,acomparisonbetweentheincomeswithagewasmeasured.
Theincomeandageseemtoincreaseanddecreasetogether,howevertheaverageagelimitcaps
ataround45.Atage45onthe94132zipcode,theageseemstoincrease,eventhoughthe
incomedroppeddramatically.ThisshowsthattheincomeandageinSanFranciscomaynot
haveanycorrelationtotheriseinincome.Rather,theriseinincomemaybeattributedtoplaces.
Goingbackontogreatattractions,theareawiththezipcode94129holdsthehighestincomeat
around140,000,whichisalsowherethepier39andgoldengatebridgeareat.

ThisgraphbelowshowstheagegroupandhouseholdincomesofthePortlandareazip
codesthatwestudied.Thegraphshowshowtheareathatwechosehassomehighhousehold
incomesoverallthoughitcanbeseenthatwhentheincomeisnotashighasusualtheagegroup
islowerthanusual.Itisnotverysurprisingonhowwhentheincomeishigheritmeantheage
groupisolder,becauseIwouldexpectforthepeoplewhoareolderandhavehadmorejobsand
opportunitiesforthemtobegainingmoreincomethanaloweragegroup.
Thegraphissimpletounderstandanditcanbesaidthatinthisareatheolderapersonis
thehighertheirincomeis.Itistheaveragethatthehighertheincometheoldertheagebutin
somesituationslikethe97215zipcodetheyhavethehighestincomeoutofallthezipcodesbut
th
theagerangeforthatzipcodeisabout40yrs.old,whileinthe97267theirincomeisthe4

highestbuttheiragegroupisat44yrs.Old.Thisgraphhasalsoshowedhowinthesezipcodes
theagerangeisfrom3444yrs.ofage.Alsohowthehouseholdincomegoesfrom43000to
about63000.

Thegraphbelowcomparestheaveragehouseholdincomeandpercentagesofpeoplewho
haveahighschooleducationorhigherinthePortlandarea.Overallfromtheresultswhen
comparingeducationandincome,thereseemstonotbemuchofarelation.Theresidentsofthe
97215areacodehavenorelationoftheirincometoeducation.Itseemsthatthereisaverylow
percentageofeducationincomparisontoincomeforthatarea.Areasthatseemtohaverelatively
similaroutcomeswhencomparedarethe97211,97212and97218areas.Areasonforthe
incomeandeducationratestohavearelationcouldbeduetobetterjobswithgreatersalaries
beinggiventopeoplewithahighschooleducationandabove.Intheareaswithnorelationthe
reasoncouldbeduetojobsnotbeinggiventopeoplewithhighschooleducationsorabove.The
jobsofferedinthoseareascouldbejobswithlesssalaryorlessexperience.Overallfromthe
comparisoninthegraphthereisnorelationofsalarytoeducation.

Thegraphbelowcomparestheaveragehouseholdincomeandpercentagesofpeoplewho
haveahighschooleducationorhigherjustlikethegraphabovebutinSanFrancisco.Compared
toPortland,SanFranciscoseemstohaveahigherhouseholdincomeandhighereducation
percentages.90,000moreinhouseholdincomeand5%moreintheeducationpercentage.There
issomesortofrelationbetweenthemandthegraphshowsthat.Inthe94116region,thereisa
lowpercentageofeducationbutahighamountofhouseholdincomeinthatarea.Thegraphalso
seemstoshowthatinthe94127and94129areashaveahigherhouseholdincome,sincetheyare
closetoeachotherwecouldassumethatthereisbetterjobsand/orbettersalariesassaidabove.
Aswecanseeinthegraph,94129,isthehighestpointofhouseholdincomeaswellasthe
highestpointfortheeducationpercentage.Overall,thegraphhassomerelationsandsome
differencesbetweeneducationandhouseholdincomeandwecandeterminethateducationcan
havesomeimpactonyourhouseholdincome.
