Activities. * Low Cost Environmental Interventions o The MDH Asthma Program received an EPA Office of Children’s Environmental Health Protection grant to determine the effectiveness of low cost product interventions in reducing asthma morbidity. © Coaches Training © The MDH Asthma Program and the Utah Department of Health Asthma Program produced an online training course targeted toward community athletic coaches. * Secondhand Smoke © Working with the Tobacco Program on a variety of programs, such as increasing the number of multi-unit housing buildings that have smoke free policies. This MDH-funded project, Live Smoke Free, is being implemented by the Association for Nonsmokers — Minnesota. * Local Health Partnership © Conducted a multi-dimensional public awareness campaign about asthma targeted to the general public, coaches, health care providers, and people with asthma. © Worked to improve the department's internal capacity to assist the public in recognizing asthma symptoms and environmental triggers. © Recruited members and supporting efforts of a county-based asthma coalition.
