1. Introduction
--------------The POKMON Simulator was started in late 2001. Originally, it was a text-based PO
KMON Battle Simulator for DOS, but has now taken the step up to using graphics, w
hich was hard to do in the old version due to size limitations.
As I learned Delphi by porting (re-writing a program for use on a different oper
ating system) one of my other programs, I decided to turn this one into a Window
s program, like the program I was porting, the POKMON Trading Card Manager.
This program was finished March 23rd, 2003. It includes all features present in
the old program and many more, such as support for having more than one of each
POKMON.
I hope you enjoy my little game.

2. How to use
------------See the help file for instructions. Just start the program and click Help. Or, s
elect Contents from the Help menu once the game has started.
3. Update info
-------------A program has been included to automatically check for updates. If an update is
available, you will be given the option to download it. The installer will autom
atically launch when the download is finished.
4. Technical support
-------------------If you have any questions, problems or comments, contact me at mickeym@go.to.
If you find any bugs, first check if there's a newer version. The bug may alread
y have been corrected. Use the updater included.
When contacting me, have the subject start with either "POKGAME" or "POKMON Simula
tor". Also include the version number (4.5). This can also be seen in the titleb
ar once the game has been started.
If you do this, I will in return guarantee you'll get an answer.
5. Version history
-----------------All dates are in dd/mm/yyyy format.
V4.5 (14/06/2004)
-Fixed a bug that would make a POKMON unreleaaseable under xcertain circumstances
- if the POKMON caught last was released, it would come back if you didn't catch
something else afterwards.

V4.4 (17/03/2004)
-And the updater's back to normal. Found out it wasn't going to be a problem any
way.
V4.3 (17/03/2004)
-Changed the updater. For now, it will automatically send you to my website, con
taining a link to download. This is due to hosting problems, and I unfortunately
don't have any other options. I don't know how long these problems will be pres
ent, except that they WILL be gone in about two months.
-Fixed a tiny error that would show an image that should have been hidden when s
omething specific was done.
V4.2 (06/02/2004)
-The game now shows if you have the wild POKMON you're facing in your POKDEX by di
splaying a POKBALL below its hit points.
-Fixes some more errors in the help file.
V4.1 (05/02/2004)
-Oops! While writing a report on this program, I just noticed that when one of t
he prizes in the Prime Cup tournament (the random POKMON) didn't behave correctly
- it would never add one of the newer POKMON from Ruby/Sapphire, only those that
were in Gold/Silver.
-Corrected the help file a bit. It was talking about something that was never do
ne.
V4.0 (21/01/2004)
-Icons in Statistics window are now smaller! You can now see 6 POKMON at a time w
ithout scrolling.
V3.8 (19/01/2004)
-Fixes a bug that didn't deactivate evolution if the POKMON had too low a level.
V3.7 (10/12/2003)
-Fixes a bug with the Hoenn Gym leaders.
V3.6 (08/12/2003)
-Fixes a bug that prevented you from evolving Clamperl.
-I forgot to modify some text when switching to doubleclicks. Done.
V3.5 (01/12/2003)
-Fixes a bug that prevented losses from being added.
-To select a POKMON for battle, you now need to double-click it. Clicking will le
t you search for a POKMON by typing its name.
-The POKDEX has been changed slightly. Rather than typing a number, you now type
the name. Unfortunately, I could not get alphabetic sorting to work, so the POKMO
N are still sorted by the Old POKDEX.
-When exporting a list, you can now choose to open the list immediately. It will
open in your default browser.
V3.0 (15/10/2003)
-Fixes a bug in the other Elites, causing you to beat them all by just defeating
one opponent.
-Fixes a few errors in the help file.
-Added some trainers.
-Tidied up the menu by removing trainer information, so the POKMON they use will
not be shown.
-Tidied up the Trainers menu further. The trainers are now divided into level of
difficulty, rather than having them all in one big menu.
-Added a Game Corner! Play for money or items, including the special Master Ball
!

-You can no longer change the size of the Type Comparisons window. You were neve
r supposed to.
V2.91 (12/10/2003)
-Fixes a very small bug in the tournament code. Due to a blank line, the prize s
hown would not be the one you got.
V2.9 (05/10/2003)
-Added Type Comparisons. This will let you see how well a particular attack will
do against a particular POKMON.
V2.8 (01/10/2003)
-Fixed an error that could make you unable to select a POKMON to send into battle
.
V2.7 (09/09/2003)
-Fixed Primeape's picture - I accidentally used Mankey's instead.
V2.6 (08/09/2003)
-Fixes a few bugs in evolutions.
V2.5 (04/09/2003)
-Fixes a bug that appeared when creating a new game. (I hope...the bug doesn't s
eem to appear anymore.)
-FINALLY got around to resizing the parts used to select your starting POKMON.
V2.4 (27/08/2003)
-Fixes a bug that made the game think you had already beaten the Elite Four when
battling Lance. When I changed one part of the program, the part that helps con
trol this, I forgot to change this as well. Sorry.
V2.3 (24/08/2003)
-Fixes a bug that prevented you from evolving. On a side note, the funny thing i
s that the bug was MADE by a bug - Nincada. The reason? The "dual evolution" thi
ng, where it evolves into Ninjask, and creates a Shedinja in the process.
V2.2 (17/08/2003)
-Fixes a bug in the associations. It is automatically corrected when you install
a new version.
V2.1 (16/08/2003)
-I just realized that I forgot to include the datafile required by the game. Bec
ause this missed, the game wouldn't run. I apologize to everyone who downloaded
the game before I corrected this error.
-Associations are created automatically again, as the problem was not with XP, b
ut the missing file.
V2.0 (16/08/2003)
-All 386 POKMON are now in the game! NOTE: The game uses "Old POKDEX" sorting. Bas
ically, this means the old order (Bulbasaur=#1, Chikorita=#152) is preserved, an
d all new POKMON are added afterwards using the same sequence as in the New POKDEX
, so Treecko=#252.
-Hoenn Gym Leaders added.
-Original Kanto Elite Four and Hoenn Elite Four added.
-All pictures have increased in size. The POKMON pictures now have a size of 64x6
4 pixels (points), although not all POKMON use the entire area.
-Corrected an error in the attacks. How I decided to give Hitmonchan 2 Mega Punc
hes, I don't know. One of them has now been replaced by Counter.
-It is now possible to open a saved game by double-clicking on it like a normal
document. However, you must manually setup your computer to do this (e-mail me i

f you need help). Also, please note that I have been unable to make it work unde
r Windows XP. I have made it work under Windows 98, though.
-All definitions (POKMON names, attacks, etc.) are now loaded from a separate fil
e. This makes it SO much easier for me to add and correct new stuff.
-You can now export information about your POKMON to an HTML file. This way, you
can easily view every single POKMON.
-Added tournaments! Win 8 battles in a row and get fine prizes!
-It is now possible to have more than one Mewtwo, but only by winning the Prime
Cup Tournament. When doing this, the odds of getting a Mewtwo is about 1158 to 1
.
-Corrected a bug which caused some POKMON to appear too soon.
-Corrected some other minor errors.
-When fighting, the enemy POKMON now has the word "enemy" placed in front of its
name. This makes it a lot easier to follow the battle when two identical POKMON f
ight.
V1.5 (27/5/2003)
-The music file you have playing can now be set to repeat infinitely.
-Due to this, controls have been moved to the menu.
-Changed the font of the help file. I think it looks better now.
-The next version will include the Ruby/Sapphire POKMON and Gym Leaders.
V1.4 (20/5/2003)
-Corrected a bug that would appear after catching Mewtwo.
V1.3 (16/4/2003)
-Corrected a bug that would allow you to continue fighting after catching a POKMO
N.
V1.2 (12/4/2003)
-Corrected minor installation errors. That's what you get for re-using other ins
tallation scripts...
-Corrected help file.
-You can now remove the program using the "Add/Remove Programs" section of the C
ontrol Panel.
-Added credits to the readme.
V1.1 (4/4/2003)
-Complete support for music! Allows MP3, WMA, WAV, MID, and more!
-Video support also included! Videos will open a window where the picture is sho
wn.
-Removed repeat option. The music must now be controlled manually.
V1.0 (23/3/2003)
- Initial release!
- Future versions will fix MIDI support (currently, it doesn't work on all compu
ters), and include Ruby/Sapphire POKMON Gym Leaders.
