Islamic Trade Essay
The religion of Islam spread throughout the ancient world in various way
s. One of the most well known ways the religion of Islam spread was through trad
e with various Countries, Kingdoms and Nations. During these ancient times the A
rabs controlled trade around much of the world that was known to them at the tim
e.
The ancient Arab and Islamic merchants ruled the gold trade in and aroun
d the ancient kingdom of Ghana in Africa. One quote a document states, The traffi
c in gold was spurred by the ancient Islamic people by the demand for and supply
of coinage (Coins/Currency). This quote shows that the Arab and Islamic people o
f the time became wealthy from the trade of gold coming from the kingdom of anci
ent Ghana.
As well as having control of trade in ancient Africa and the ancient Middle East
, the Arabs and Islamic people also had wide influence in Eastern countries such
as, India and China. Another quote from a document states, In the 600s , Arab tra
ders were in contact with India. Merchants would regularly sail to the west coas
t of India to trade goods such as spices, gold and African goods.. This quote sho
ws that the Arab people had an influence and regularly visited people in the Eas
tern part of the known world.
All the trade around the ancient world caused the religion of Islam to have a ma
ss spread and influence on people. One quote from a document states Through conti
nued trade between Arab Muslims and Indians, as well as other cultures, Islam co
ntinued to spread in coastal Indian cities and towns, both through immigration a
nd conversion. This direct quote from the document shows that the Arab Muslims ha
d a greater effect than just trade on people, many people learned of the teachin
gs of Islam and began to convert and change their religion over to Islam.
In conclusion, Islam had a great affect on the people of the known, thr
ough various ways such as trade and even conversion over to the religion of Isla
m.
